I enjoyed everything about him. From to singing about boobs to playing with sock puppets to walking off stage and not even giving an introduction for a one Meryll Streep. Seth MacFarlane is not all toilet humor and crassness. He comes across as a very genuine and honest self made man who happens to be a huge fan of film and has worked very hard to get where he is. Not only is the man witty but he can sing and has three of his own sitcoms on the air along with a remake of the Flintstones on the way! "He was brilliant and I loved every second of it..." you can quote me on that.
Let me be the first to say that I did not see all the Best Picture nomms. but I have to say without a shadow of a doubt that Argo was by far the best film I have seen all year. Argo left nothing untouched and was honestly the epitome of a perfect film! Everything was so well done and believable that I forgot for a full 2 hours that Ben Affleck was Ben Affleck and that John Chambers wasn't John Goodman! Ben Affleck used so many fascinating techniques such as using different film for the scenes in the CIA, Hollywood, and in Iran. The film was written and acted with such precision and Ben proves to be the ultimate Director/Actor and has outdone himself and as a matter of fact Clint Eastwood. I have wanted to work in the movies since I was lets say seven years old and Ben Affleck has with this movie has earned my respect and admiration as one of the greatest directors of our time and he has become such an inspiration to me and I wish him the best in his future film endeavours. I am also pissed off out of my mind that you did not even get nominated for Best Director Ben!
Speaking of fantastic directors: Ang Lee's (who's Crouching tiger Hidden Dragon I have seen numerous times with my family and loved since I was a boy) won a total of four Oscars including Best Director, Score, Cinematography, and Special Effects. Life of Pi was a fantastically beautiful film and was so inspiring to watch and the special effect designers made a funny comment saying roughly, " the movie questions ourselves what is real and what is not, which is ironic because the majority of what you see in the film is, well.. its fake."
I called 16/24 of these awards. I did not write anything down for the best documentary short because i had never even heard of the films and I did not put a choice for best short live action film for the same reason. I was so happy to find out that Pi won because of Lee's previous nominations and just by the fact that he is an amazing storyteller and evokes so much emotion in his audience and told such a great story through his lens like I only hope to one day accomplish. The film also captured scenes of beauty that rightly were earned by the men who designed all the effects and glorious images seen in the film and the man who aided them along the way: Mychael Danna, who won the award for Best Original Score. I have always said and believed that music is the corner stone for a movies success. I say that the only films that can win Best Picture are the ones that are also nominated in the Best Original Score category. While I wanted Anna Karenina to win for its completely innovative and original score life of Pi was beautiful and exotic and deserved every inch of that Oscar!
Woo! Jennifer Lawrence wins. I called my friend up and we both started yelling at each other when we learned that the woman who put an aspect of my life on the screen, the woman who made me choke up at the fear of never having love again, the woman who wowed me with how crazy she really could be, when Jennifer Lawrence tripped on up to her 1st Academy Award of possibly many to come my heart skipped a beat. I love this young lady so much. She is beautiful and she has not done a single role I can say I did not love her in. She is gracious and elegant with as much beauty as she can muster. Jennifer Lawrence is a goddess among us ladies and gentlemen. Her film, Silver Lining Playbook, was my third choice for Best Picture and it was my second favorite movie of the year (a list of the top 10 can be found at the bottom of the article).
Other highlights include the dancing and singing of the lovely and talented Daniel Radcliffe, the repeated miss-pronunciation of Anna Karenina and Les Miz, the opening monologue of Seth MacFarlane, surprise William Shatner appearance, Duh! We all knew Daniel Day-Lewis' wins for his unforgettable performance as flawed American Abraham Lincoln, "Peace Out!": Quintin Tarantino wins Best Original Screenplay and Leo is once again not nominated, the performance of the one and only Ted (Seth MacFarlane), and the appearance of First Lady: Michelle Obama to announce Argo wins Best Picture!
